Bonjour, je m’appelle Christela
I've been dancing since I was little, and K-pop is what truly sparked my passion. The expressive style, with its visual flair and makeup, drew me in. As I danced more, I got into skincare and makeup, realising how much they could boost my confidence.
Makeup gives me a real confidence boost, whether I’m at work or performing. It helps me feel more assured around others, and even affects my behavior and mindset. It might sound odd, but it’s true—a bit of makeup goes a long way for me.
For performances, makeup plays an even bigger role. There’s always a theme and a mood to match, so I adapt my look accordingly. Bold makeup makes my facial expressions stand out on stage, especially for distant audiences. In everyday life, though, I keep it softer.
Depending on the performance, my makeup style changes. For kids, I keep it light, which affects my expressions and movement. For other shows, stronger makeup boosts my confidence and changes how I feel and perform.

Hej, jeg hedder Christina
As a dermatologist and a self-proclaimed science nerd, my love for math, physics, and chemistry naturally led me to this field. I’ve always been fascinated by the overlap between medicine and cosmetics, especially now, with so many products featuring active, science-backed ingredients.
I got serious about skincare around age 30, when I started seeing how sun damage affects people by that age. And if I'm going to be convincing in my career, I also have to take care of my own skin!
What does it mean to me in everyday life? For me it’s about using good skin care products so my skin actually just looks healthy and fresh. It feels great to not have to cover your skin. For example, I never skip sunscreen, using tinted protection in winter and layering with non-tinted in summer.
Dermatology lets me combine my love of science, creativity, and hands-on work. It’s not just about aesthetics; it’s about teaching people to care for their skin for life.

1 in every 3 cancers diagnosed is a skin cancer. The main cause of skin cancer is exposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun.

Hello, my name is David
I suppose we all check our appearance every so often to know what we look like to the outside world and avoid distractions. I think we adopt certain products depending on how we want to adapt that look: how you want to appear to your colleagues or to your social media.
I didn’t use as many products in the past… and as my wife and I started spending time in the South of France, sunscreen has become a regular part of my routine. I grew up in Northern England, where the sun isn’t as intense, but I’ve become more conscious of the dangers of UV exposure.
In recent years, I’ve also added moisturizers. As you age, your skin dries out, so I borrow my wife’s hand cream and have my own for my face. It brings instant comfort, making my skin feel soft and supple.
Over time, I’ve gone through different products, always trying to keep things quick and efficient. Like anyone, I want to stay fresh without taking up too much time. I also keep an eye on what’s improving and add it to my routine when needed.

Bonjour, je m’appelle Emmanuelle
Cosmetics are such an important part of my life. With my sensitive, fair skin, I use an anti-drying cream every morning and evening, plus sunscreen in the summer to protect against the sun. On regular workdays, I keep it simple, but on weekends or special occasions, I love wearing makeup and perfume—it’s my way of feeling feminine and expressing myself.
Working in a traditionally masculine field, like farming, cosmetics and perfume help me stay connected to my femininity. Perfume, especially, is very personal to me—it reflects who I am and brings me so much joy. A favorite scent can feel like a signature, a way of expressing something words can’t capture.
Growing fragrance plants deepens this connection. Cultivating roses, tuberose, and soon jasmine lets me merge my love for scents with my heritage here in Grasse, the world capital of perfume. This work supports me, creates jobs, and helps preserve a beautiful tradition.

How much attention do you give to your dental care? For me, as a dental hygienist, it’s at the core of my routine. Brushing my teeth isn’t just a habit; it’s a priority. That’s probably the most unique part of my personal care routine—oral health always comes first.
I became a dental hygienist because, as a teenager, I was terrified of dental treatments. The equipment looked intimidating, and the procedures felt overwhelming. After having a few cavities treated, I wanted to understand how to avoid further issues. That’s what led me to this profession, and I’ve never looked back.
Oral health is about more than clean teeth—it’s about confidence and well-being. People with healthy teeth and gums can smile and communicate without worry. Helping others achieve this is incredibly rewarding. Maintaining a good brushing routine, using toothpaste and ensuring proper brushing technique are small things that make a big difference.

Hi, I’m Margot
My routine has changed a lot in the past two decades. In my late teens and early twenties, I wasn’t into makeup and skincare. I didn’t like my features, especially my fair skin and freckles, and I wanted to change those traits. But in my late twenties, I finally started to accept and embrace what I looked like and became more interested in makeup. Through the trends and products intimidated me, I began using skincare and makeup to feel and look good.
I became a parent nearly five years ago, and my relationship with cosmetics changed again. When caring for a newborn and later two small children, taking time for myself was extremely challenging, but the one time a day I got to be “just me” (not a mom, friend, wife, friend, or employee) was during my morning routine.
Most days, I have only 20 minutes, and it’s more of a ritual now. That time is sacred: I put my phone on airplane mode, make a big coffee, and tune the noise out. I keep it simple—shower, moisturizer, deodorant, shampoo—but choose products that make me feel clean and refreshed. Makeup is quick but fun. This ritual isn’t just about the products; it’s about creating a moment of calm and setting the tone for the day.
Growing up, I struggled with confidence and a positive self-image, but skincare and makeup have helped me embrace who I am. Now, I hope to teach my kids to value self-care and accept themselves from the start.

Cześć, nazywam się Marta
Two years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent chemotherapy, surgeries, and radiotherapy. It wasn’t easy, but thankfully, outcomes are improving for many patients like me.
Over the years my skincare routine evolved accordingly. I now use cleansing foam, toner, serum, and moisturizer with UV protection. Over time, I switched to products tailored to my sensitive allergy-prone skin, which made a big difference.
Cosmetics became a source of joy. Makeup helped me feel like myself and covered visible effects of treatment, like the loss of eyebrows and lashes. Losing my hair during chemotherapy was the hardest part, but I embraced turbans, creating playful, stylish looks.
A highlight was discovering the Look Good, Feel Better initiative during makeup workshops at my oncology ward. These sessions taught me valuable tips and introduced me to a supportive community of women facing similar challenges. It was a bright spot in a tough journey.

Bonjour, je m’appelle Paul
I wanted a job that was both creative and hands-on, so I chose hairdressing. I was lucky to learn from mentors who truly loved the craft, which made all the difference. When you’re taught by people who care, it inspires you to do the same.
In my work, I use products thoughtfully—mainly to enhance haircuts or help clients with curly hair. There’s still a lot of pressure to straighten curly hair, but embracing it is a powerful act of self-acceptance. It’s not just a style choice; it’s about feeling proud of who you are. I also decided to apply unisex prices in an effort to push for gender equality at my scale.
I aim for an eco-friendly approach, using organic or low-impact products and methods. For example, we don’t use water for shampooing during appointments, which was a tough decision but one that aligns with my commitment to conserving resources. Instead, I ask clients to wash their hair at home before they come in and guide them on how to do it properly.
Hairdressing is more than just about looks; it’s about connection. In my salon, there are just two of us, which makes it easier for clients to open up. People often seek more than a haircut—they want to feel better. As hairdressers, we’re like a mix of stylists and therapists, helping clients find a fresh start and feel good about themselves.

Oi, meu nome é Thaïs
I’m a blend of cultures. My heritage includes an Indigenous great-grandmother, a Black father with curly hair and dark skin, a white mother, and some Portuguese roots, so I’m a real mix. Growing up, I wanted to look like my mom—fair skin and straight hair—but over time, I’ve learned to value my paternal side more.
As a kid with curly hair and a mom with straight hair, styling was a challenge. With different types of hair, it’s not the same creams, not the same way to style it... Then, as I began to mature, I started wanting to learn about and embrace my natural hair.
My routine also changed since I left Brazil, but some things remain! In my culture, bathing is significant—Brazil is the world leader in showers! So, soap is a big part of my routine. I also love colorful eyeshadow because it reminds me of the vibrant colors and joy of Brazil, which I miss.
My relationship with cosmetics has evolved. I now use products out of self-care, not obligation. As I’ve developed a kinder relationship with myself, I focus on taking care of my future self in a more accepting way.

Hola, soy Topacio Fresh
Cosmetics and skincare have been a lifelong journey for me. Skincare has become essential—our skin evolves with age, and caring for it is as vital as any health check-up. And perfume? It’s indispensable. I carry it everywhere, spritzing it on myself, my clothes, even my bed—it’s part of my everyday routine.
As a young person discovering my identity, makeup was my secret ally. I used to sneak out with a little pouch, applying mascara and lipstick before heading out, then scrubbing it off before coming home. Those moments were transformative, helping me affirm the person I was becoming and face my transition with more confidence.
Today, it’s about confidence and comfort. Makeup feels like a protector, not a mask—something that empowers me to feel more put together. On stage or in front of the camera, it’s dramatic and bold, but in my personal life, it’s natural and minimal, letting my skin breathe.
I believe in cosmetics for everyone, beyond labels or gender. Whether it’s makeup or skincare, these products bring me a sense of well-being, helping me feel at ease in my own skin. They’ve been an essential part of embracing my identity and expressing myself.

Hola, soy Alberto
I started dyeing my hair about 10-15 years ago and I was probably the first guy in my southern Spanish city to walk into a salon for a color change. They even told me no guy had asked for it before! I began with blonde highlights, then tried streaks, and now I’ve been through just about every color—blue, orange, platinum, you name it. I guess I’m a bit addicted to switching things up. It feels like a total image change, but I do it for me, not for anyone else.
It’s about having fun and pushing boundaries. I’m not seeking attention, but I enjoy challenging norms, today, there are places where men dyeing their hair isn’t common.
The same goes for makeup. I once asked for lipstick in Spain, the salesperson kept offering lip balm, clearly not used to men wanting lipstick. That’s when I realised how much still needs to change.
Whether it’s changing my hair, makeup, or using any cosmetic, I do it for myself, to feel good. Also to challenge social norms, bit by bit, but ultimately I do it for myself, to feel empowered and attractive.
