Our European Consumer Perception Study of 2022 found that 72% of European consumers see cosmetics and personal care products as important or very important in their daily lives.

Nearly 9.000 SMEs were involved in producing cosmetics and personal care products in Europe in 2023, highlighting the industry's extensive presence and impact on the European economy.

In 2023, the cosmetics industry supported over 3,5 million jobs across the value chain in Europe, with 259.000 people employed directly, further 2.68 million indirectly, and over 587.000 people employed through induced effects.

The Look Good Feel Better initiative has helped over 2 million cancer patients in 27 countries since its launch in 1989. The program offers makeup and self-care workshops to help people with cancer face their diagnosis with greater confidence.

The late revision of the Cosmetics Regulation… is not over yet. Because now that the project has been officially shelved, it won’t be without consequences. At Cosmetic Valley’s 22nd Congress on Regulatory Issues - Fragrance & Cosmetics on 20 November 2024, Gerald Renner, Cosmetics Europe’s Director Technical Regulatory Affairs, called on all his expertise and a bit of his crystal ball to sketch out what the regulatory future of cosmetics in the European Union could be.

Cosmetics Europe is a member of the EcoBeautyScore (EBS) Association and supports its activities. The Association has developed an environmental impact assessment and scoring system for cosmetic products. Upon deployment of the scoring system, the EBS will provide consumers with information on the environmental impact of their cosmetic products and foster an eco-design mindset amongst manufacturers.
